Congressmen Send Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Warning Letter Over Privacy Concerns

Report: Privacy Caucus leaders request disclosures on data breaches by Oct. 27
NEW YORK - Two members of the U.S. House of Representatives have asked Facebook for more details about how applications its users activate handle personal data, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The news comes after Facebook said it has taken steps to "dramatically limit" the exposure of personal information following a Journal investigation, published Monday, found personal data was transmitted to third parties via apps on the social network.
Representatives Edward Markey (D., Mass.) and Joe Barton (R., Texas), the co-chairmen of the House Bipartisan Privacy Caucus, sent Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg a letter expressing their concerns, according to the Journal.
Given Facebook's 500 million users, "this series of breaches of consumer privacy is a cause for concern," the lawmakers wrote. They also asked for details by Oct. 27 on how many users have been affected and what changes Facebook is planning to address the latest privacy issue.
