Conrad Murray Case To Air Non-Stop On HLN
The network will replicate their successful Casey Anthony coverage plan for the former Michael Jackson doctor's high-profile trial, beginning Sept. 27.
HLN had record-breaking numbers this summer while airing near-constant coverage of the high-profilie Casey Anthony trial.
The network had it's highest-rated month ever in June, topping MSNBC in both primetime and total day numbers and also beat Fox News during their 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. blocks when most of the trial's testimony occurred.
Next week, the network will attempt to replicate the ratings bump by returning to across-the-board coverage of the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray (who is accused of causing the June 25, 2009 death of Michael Jackson), starting Sept. 27.
All of HLN's shows, starting at 6 a.m. with the Morning Express with Robin Meade and continuing through to 11 p.m. on Showbiz Tonight, will feature Murray-related programming.
Nancy Grace, who became very emotionally involved in the Casey, will be "delivering up-to-the-minute details of the trial's twists and turns," during her hour-long block, says the network's press release.
The Joy Behar Show will be focusing on Jackson's life and his complicated family dynamic, while Dr. Drew Pinksy will be tasked with "demystifying why players at the heart of this story do what they do."
As a run-up to the programming push, HLN will debut its two-part documentary "The Death of Michael Jackson: Dr. Conrad Murray on Trial," hosted by Grace, Saturday Sept. 24 at 9 p.m.
