Constantin Medien grabs online soccer rights

IPTV and mobile rights to Germany's Bundesliga soccer matches

COLOGNE, Germany -- Bavarian mogul Leo Kirch missed his goal last year of securing Germany's top soccer rights but his company, Constantin Medien, formerly EM.Sport Media, did the next best thing Thursday, securing IPTV and mobile rights to Germany's Bundesliga soccer matches through 2013.

The deal, with Deutsche Telekom, will see Constantin set up its own online soccer channel to carry all 612 games of the first and second division Bundesliga. Constantin also will produce live Bundesliga coverage for Entertain, Deutsche Telekom's IPTV service, as well as mobile platforms.
