Controversial reporter returns to Newsweek
Ramin Setoodeh is back in action at Newsweek after a short stint on People mag's human interest team. Setoodeh fled Newsweek in June following intense criticism of his article "Straight Jacket," which examined whether or not audiences could accept gay actors in straight roles.
Actress Kristin Chenoweth, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) were among those who took offensive at Setoodeh's argument. "Social Network" screenwriter and "West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin publicly defended the piece.
As for his return to Newsweek, Setoodeh told New York magazine Saturday that he was "excited for the future" and "happy to be back."
He added, "Look, People is the most-read magazine in the country, but it wasn't the right fit."
