Cookie Jar hires new senior vp
Maggie Murphy was formerly with Eastside EntertainmentTORONTO -- Canadian indie producer Cookie Jar Entertainment has hired Maggie Murphy away from Kiefer Sutherland's Eastside Entertainment to become senior vp of development.
Murphy will report to Tom Mazza, executive vp and head of worldwide TV at Cookie Jar's Burbank-based development office.
Murphy, who completed earlier executive stints with Regency Television and UPN, will develop and expand the Toronto-based indie producer's new primetime label, the Jar.
The first project from the Jar is an English-language version of the popular Mexican Lucha Libre AAA wrestling events.
Elsewhere, Cookie Jar remains in negotiations with U.S., Canadian and other international broadcasters on additional series for the world market.
