Corey Stoll is heading to the moon.

The House of Cards star is in talks to play Buzz Aldrin in Universal's First Man, the film about Neil Armstrong that will be helmed by La La Land director Damien Chazelle.

Ryan Gosling is reuniting with Chazelle (who won the best director Oscar for La La Land) and will play Armstrong. Kyle Chandler also is attached to play Deke Slayton.

Written by Josh Singer, the drama is described as a visceral, first-person account of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on the years 1961-1969 and Armstrong, the astronaut who became the first man to set foot on the moon. Based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on the nation — of one of the most dangerous space missions in history.

Aldrin became the second man to ever step on the moon, landing there on July 21, 1969, and stepping onto the surface after Armstrong.

First Man will be produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen through their Temple Hill Entertainment banner, alongside Chazelle and Gosling. Isaac Klausner is executive producing. DreamWorks Pictures will co-finance the film.

Universal vp production Sara Scott will oversee the project for the studio. The drama is set to land in theaters Oct. 12, 2018.

Stoll’s credits also include TV series Girls and The Strain. On the big screen, the actor was seen in Black Mass, Ant-Man, Cafe Society and Gold. He is repped by UTA, Suskin Management and Schreck Rose.
