Costume designers unveil noms
EmptyCostume designers from 15 features have been nominated for Costume Designers Guild Awards.
Julie Weiss for "Blades of Glory," Olivier Beriot ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"), Mary Claire Hannan ("Into the Wild"), Monique Prudhomme ("Juno") and Louise Frogley ("Ocean's Thirteen") are the nominees in the feature category for contemporary film.
Fantasy feature film nominees are Mona May for "Enchanted," Ruth Myers ("The Golden Compass"), Jany Temime ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"), Penny Rose ("Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End") and Michael Wilkinson ("300").
For period films, the contenders are Jacqueline Durran for "Atonement," Alexandra Byrne ("Elizabeth: The Golden Age"), Colleen Atwood ("Sweeney Todd"), Arianne Phillips ("3:10 to Yuma") and Marit Allen who receives posthumous recognition for "La Vie en Rose." Allen died in November at age 66.
In the TV categories, nominees for movie or miniseries are Mario Davignon ("Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee"), Andrea Galer ("Jane Eyre") and costume designer Marion Boyce and Debra Messing's designer Debra McGuire ("The Starter Wife").
Nominees for a contemporary series are Chrisi Karvonides-Dushenko ("Big Love"), Randall Christensen ("Dancing With the Stars"), Amy Westcott ("Entourage"), Juliet Polcsa ("The Sopranos") and Eduardo Castro ("Ugly Betty").
Robert Blackman ("Pushing Daisies"), April Ferry ("Rome") and Joan Bergin ("The Tudors") are up for honors in the period/fantasy TV series category. Beth Pasternak, Melissa Bruning and Deborah Ferguson are nominated for their work on TV commercials.
During the ceremony, the Swarovski President's Award is being presented to Paula Wagner, and director James Mangold and producing partner Cathy Konrad will receive the Distinguished Director/Producer Award. Costume designer Ruth Myers will receive the Lacoste Career Achievement in Film Award. The Career Achievement in Television Award will be presented to costume designer Ray Aghayan.
The 10th annual CDG Awards, hosted by Anjelica Huston, will be held Feb. 19 at the Beverly Wilshire.
