'The Cove' wins Sydney audience fave award
Dolphin film also won at Sundance and Hot DocsSYDNEY -- Documentary feature "The Cove" has been voted the audience favorite at this year's Sydney Film Festival, organizers said Monday.
"The Cove," by Louie Psihoyos, traces the fascination with dolphins and the multibillion-dollar industry that threatens their existence.
The win replicates the film's awards at this year's Sundance Film Festival and the Hot Docs festival in Canada.
It beat out Sydney Festival jury member Oliver Hirschbiegel's "Five Minutes of Heaven" and local film "Cedar Boys," which were voted the favorite features at the festival's main and satellite venues.
Audience voting was up 16% over 2008, organizers said.
