Craig Ferguson to host Tower of Hope Gala

Nancy Mishkin, Dr. McAndrew, Steve Smith to be honored

"The Late Late Show's" Craig Ferguson will host the 2009 Tower of Hope Gala dinner on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Presented by the Tower Cancer Research Foundation, the evening will honor Nancy Mishkin, Dr. Philomena McAndrew and Steve Smith for their contributions to cancer care, research, awareness and humanitarian efforts.

Tower Cancer Research Foundation is a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization dedicated to advancing cancer research, where patients receive the kind of one-on-one care big hospitals can't possibly match.

Mishkin, a Tower Cancer Research Foundation board member, will be the recipient of the Hope Award, given each year to an individual who through their actions is a beacon of optimism to cancer sufferers.

Oncologist McAndrew, who will receive the Healing Award, recently joined her patient Christina Applegate on a special segment of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," on the cures and treatments of breast cancer. Dr. McAndrew is also a sought after lecturer and expert on cancer.

The Humanity Award will be presented to Smith, CEO of Anthem Music and Media Fund.
