'Creed,' 'Straight Outta Compton' Win Big at All Def Movie Awards

Russell Simmons

Tony Rock, Chris Rock's brother, hosted Russell Simmons' first-ever awards show Wednesday.

The first-ever All Def Movie Awards, held in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, were hosted by Tony Rock (Oscar host Chris Rock's brother). Fusion will air the awards show on Sunday, Feb. 28 opposite the Oscars.

Held just days before the Oscars, the All Def Movie Awards were created by All Def Digital's Russell Simmons in response to the "stunning lack of diversity" in Hollywood. Beasts of No Nation, Chi-raq, Concussion, Creed, Dope and Straight Outta Compton competed for best picture, with Compton taking home the prize.

Despite missing out on best picture, Creed did pick up awards for best actor for Michael B Jordan, and best director for Ryan Coogler. Sanaa Lathan picked up best actress for The Perfect Guy. Will Smith received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Norman Lear the Vanguard Award.

Other awards handed out were for "best bad muh f--ka" and the fan-voted "most quoted movie."
