CTV to Preview Charlie Sheen's 'Anger Management' After 2012 Summer Olympic Games
The pilot episode for the "Two and a Half Men" star's follow-up comedy will air immediately after the closing ceremony coverage from London on August 12.
TORONTO - Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management has already debuted stateside on FX, even as Canadians have to wait until after the Summer Olympic Games end to see the former Two and a Half Men star's follow-up comedy.
To be specific, immediately after CTV’s live coverage of the closing ceremony from the London Games on Sunday, August 12, when the Canadian broadcaster will air the pilot episode of Anger Management to build audience buzz here.
The Anger Management pilot will next air the following night at 9 p.m. on CTV, then on August 14 at 10 p.m. on The Comedy Network, Canada’s cable comedy channel.
Then CTV will make the pilot episode available on demand across its digital platforms, including CTV.ca and on mobile phones, before Anger Management north of the border settles into a Tuesday night at 9 p.m. timeslot this fall.
The upcoming TV season premiere date has yet to be announced.
The Charlie Sheen sitcom is taking its time to arrive on Canadian TV sets as CTV-parent Bell Media earlier acquired the Canadian TV rights from distributor Debmar-Mercury, keeping the high-profile show away from rival Rogers Media, which operates the FX Canada cable channel here.
CTV is betting Lionsgate Television, the producer of Anger Management, will see the new sitcom survive well beyond the London Games launch-pad and an original 10-episode commitment before the broadcaster debuts the sitcom north of the border in the fall.
Down the road, FX and CTV can look forward to a possible 90-episode re-order for Anger Management.
