Customer is the focus for Avid vp
EmptyEntertainment software industry veteran Paul Lypaczewski recently joined Avid Technology as vp and GM of its video business, where he's focusing on workflow and product integration as it continues to transform.
The video division encompasses Avid's flagship Media Composer nonlinear editing system as well as its postproduction, broadcast and 3-D software products. With Lypaczewski on board, consumer video products have been added to the unit.
Lypaczewski will manage the company's professional and consumer video engineering and product management teams.
"It's a customer focus," he said of the strategy. "The core emphasis is on a productive and successful workflow for the customer, and the products are a means to that end. That means better integration across Avid products and with other companies' products."
In related news, Lypaczewski has been reunited with Martin Vann, a former Autodesk Media & Entertainment vp who has joined Avid as vp sales and services.
Lypaczewski led Autodesk's Discreet unit (now Autodesk Media & Entertainment) as executive vp and GM from 2000-04.
He is the third head of the video unit since Gary Greenfield was named president and CEO of Avid Technology in December. (partialdiff)
