CW: Media won't get '90210' screeners

Network, studio call move a 'strategic marketing decision'

Critics and other members of the media hoping to get a sneak peek at the CW's upcoming series "90210" are out of luck.

The network and studio issued a statement Monday saying they won't be sending out screeners before the highly buzzed-about show's Sept. 2 premiere.

"The CW and our studio partner CBS Paramount Network Television have made the strategic marketing decision not to screen '90210' for any media in advance of its premiere," the statement said. "We're not hiding anything -- simply keeping a lid on '90210' until 9.02, riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night and letting all our constituents see it at the same time."

The statement set the blog world into a frenzy of speculation about the quality of the show, a contemporary version of Fox's long-running "Beverly Hills, 90210."
