Cynthia Rowley Designs Lindsey Vonn's Helmet for Sochi Olympics

The alpine ski racer debuted four potential headgear looks on Facebook, allowing fans to vote for which she'll don while sailing down the Sochi slopes.

Competitive athletes worldwide are strategizing aplenty for the upcoming Sochi Olympics -- outfits included.

Alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn -- the first American woman to ever earn the gold medal in the sport -- collaborated with her good friend, designer Cynthia Rowley, to brainstorm four wintry helmet designs.

She debuted the colorful Briko helmet options on her Facebook page on Dec. 26, asking her fans to vote for which she should don while racing down the Sochi slopes.

"I wanted to find a way to involve the fans in this exciting chapter in my life," said Vonn in a statement. "Partnering with Cynthia on the design component was such an obvious choice for me, given her talents and our friendship."

Rowley added of the contest, "Kudos to Lindsey for enlisting the help of her fans on her special journey to the Olympics. I give her total credit for coming up with such a great idea where we were able to merge function with unique designs."

Unique, they are indeed. The Speed of Light design features peonies and pansies, painted as if moving in a forward direction, while the Snow Leopard option showcases the spotted white animal with a menacing facial expression. Go for the Gold has the Briko helmet dressed in silhouettes of leaves, and Winged Victory wears pastel-hued feathers illustrated as if in watercolor.

Facebook fans can vote for their favorite design by using one of the four assigned hashtags on the post.

The contest hits the web following Nike's news last week, revealing slick silver and green medal stand looks and fleece-filled village apparel for U.S. athletes.
