'Da Vinci Code' Author Dan Brown Announces New Novel (Video)
The bestselling thriller writer said on the "Today Show" that his new novel, "Inferno," will arrive in bookstores on May 14th.
Bestselling author Dan Brown is bringing back fan-favorite fictional Harvard University Professor Robert Langdon for his new novel, Inferno, he revealed on the Today Show.
The novel is set to be published by Doubleday on May 14, 2013.
With two books -- The Lost Symbol and The Da Vinci Code -- as no. 1 bestsellers, Inferno will have an initial printing of four million copies.
Brown delves into the depths of hell in his new novel, with a plot centered on the renowned literary masterpiece, Dante’s Inferno. He explains, “With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm … a landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways.”
Chairman and editor-in-chief of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, Sonny Mehta, says, “His ability to fuse codes with well-researched history has helped to make his novels some of the most popular works of all time.”
The Da Vinci Code spent 144 weeks on The New York Times Hardcover Fiction bestseller list, earning its spot as the bestselling adult hardcover to date, with 81 million copies in print worldwide.
The Lost Symbol had 30 million copies in print worldwide and was translated into 48 languages.
Brown’s earlier novels -- including Deception Point, Digital Fortress and Angels and Demons -- have also become multimillion-copy international bestsellers.
