You, Too, Can Have Daisy Ridley's 'Star Wars' Premiere Smoky Eyes
Her makeup artist reveals how she created the soft, feathered look.
Making your debut in something as huge as a Star Wars franchise film has to be intimidating. But Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley makes it look easy. She walked the red carpet at Monday night’s world premiere in a custom white-lace Chloe dress, styled by Petra Flannery, paired with the perfect hair (by Robert Vetica) and romantic makeup.
Chanel celebrity makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua was responsible for the latter, and she conceived the look to play off the ultrafeminine dress Ridley wore. "To contrast the dress, I created a fresh, smoky-eye look with a softly defined lash line and feathered lashes," she says.
The first step was applying Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Tisse Gabrielle ($62) on Ridley's lids using a Chanel small contour and shadow brush #26 ($30). Next, "I softly defined the lash line with Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso [$27]," a dark coffee shade that ensured there was nothing harsh or hard about the look.
Lastly, Bua "created feathered lashes to round out her eyes using Chanel Le Volume Ultra-Noir de Chanel mascara [$32]." And because no smoked-out eye would be complete without a defined brow, Bua used Chanel Crayon Sourcils sculpting eyebrow pencil ($29) along with the angled brow brush #12 ($30) to finish Ridley's arches.
