How to Get Dakota Johnson's Structured Glitter Eye Makeup
She was sparkling at the 'How to Be Single' premiere in NYC.
Dakota Johnson has ruled every red carpet she’s stepped onto lately. The NYC premiere of How to Be Single on Wednesday night was no exception. Wearing a star-spangled Saint Laurent dress, the actress looked radiant thanks to complementary glowing, glittery makeup by celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff.
The beauty guru — who also works with Naomi Watts, Kristen Stewart and Natalie Portman — played off the flowing long-sleeve dress. “We were thinking gypsy glam-rock vibes,” Dubroff tells Pret-a-Reporter. “There was definitely a free-spirit element — a girl not afraid to wear glitter, yet still be pulled together and polished.”
Indeed, it can be tricky to do glitter in a sophisticated, chic way. As a first step, the makeup artist created contour on Johnson’s eyelid creases and under eye area using Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Cafe Au Lait ($24), a tone she describes as “harmonious with the dress.”
Next came a swipe of Diorshow Fusion Mono Cream Shadow in Etoile ($31) on the center of her lids, then Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy ($20) for a pop. The finishing touch? Several coats of Laura Mercier Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara in Black Onyx ($25).
