Dan Rather has signed with WME, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

The journalist hosts the newsmagazine Dan Rather Presents on AXS TV and recently launched the cable network’s The Big Interview With Dan Rather, where his entertainment industry guests have included David Simon, Jack White and Dolly Parton.

Rather began his career in print at the Associated Press, the United Press and his hometown’s Houston Chronicle. He joined CBS News in 1962 and for the next 44 years covered the nation’s biggest current events, including the civil rights movement, the Kennedy assassination, the Challenger disaster, Watergate, 11 presidencies, five wars and the 9/11 attacks.

In 1981, he succeeded Walter Cronkite as anchor of  CBS Evening News before departing in 2005 in the wake of the program’s disputed story about George W. Bush’s National Guard service.

Rather’s 2012 memoir, Rather Outspoken: My Life in the News, became a New York Times best-seller. In February, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Banff World Media Festival.
