'Dancing With the Stars' Season 13 Cast: Which Media Reports Got It Right
Speculation over which celebrities would appear has been going on for months, see which news outlets were the closest to the mark
ABC announced the Season 13 lineup for their Dancing With the Stars cast Monday evening.
Ricki Lake, David Arquette, Kristin Cavillari, Chaz Bono and Nancy Grace were among the contestants who’ll appear on the dancing reality show.
But, casting rumors have been swirling for months.
Here's how the media stacked up in their guessing-game reports.
An affiliate of ABC, ABC Local (the network that broadcasts Dancing With the Stars) cited 37 potential celebrity contestants in a story on August 3. They hit some participants right on the mark, like Nancy Grace, Ricki Lake and Chaz Bono, but struck out with other predictions like Tiffany Thiessen and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kim Richards.
Yahoo! named-dropped Little House on the Prairie alum Mellisa Gilbert (who was first reported to be in the running by The National Enquirer in May), Regis Phillbin and Mike Tyson as potential candidates in June, none of whom will be appearing, and aslo incorrectly speculated dancer Maxim Chmerkovskiy would likely sit this season out. But, they did get it right with a different pro prediction, saying dancer Mark Ballas was a potential returner.
Us Weekly speculated that singer Christina Milian and MTV's Teen Mom star Maci Bookout might find a spot on the show, but neither guesses came to fruition.
Reality TV magazine reported rumors that NKOTB member Donnie Wahlberg was being courted, and also cited Mike Tyson in June.
