Daniel Laikind Tapped CEO of Original Media
Three months after Endemol North America tapped Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin co-CEOs, the latter has tapped Daniel Laikind to oversee Original Media.
Laikind has been tapped CEO of Original Media, the company formerly overseen by Corwin.
In his new role, Laikind -- co-founder of Stick Figure Productions -- will oversee all reality-based content creation, including first-run unscripted cable programming, for the company. He'll be based in Original Media's New York office and begin immediately.
"Daniel has had a profound impact on the unscripted genre in both longform and shortform and is known for creating edgy, quality content. I love his work. He is very well liked and respected in the creative community and among buyers. He will be an asset to the Original Media team and to Endemol overall,” Corwin said.
In his new post, Laikind will oversee one of the leading production companies that specializes in producing unique films and series. Launched in 2002, Original Media's credits include Spike's Ink Master, AMC's Comic Book Men, Discovery's Dual Survival, TLC's LA Ink and Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project.
Original Media became part of the Endemol family in 2007; Corwin remained CEO and continued to grow the business before he was appointed co-chairman and co-CEO at Endemol North America in October 2013.
"I have watched for years as Charlie and his incredible team at Original Media have managed to do the hardest thing in our business -- produce content across every genre that is wildly entertaining, that connects with an audience, and that, true to the company name, is always original," Laikind said. "To get a chance to continue the legacy is an opportunity of a lifetime. I look forward to working with Charlie and Cris and the rest of the Endemol team, and with the great group at Original Media."
Before joining Original Media, Laikind co-founded Stick Figure Productions, where he served as president of development and production. Under his leadership, Stick Figure's slate produced series including UPN's Amish in the City, HBO's Family Bonds, Nat Geo's American Gypsies, Showtime's Unraveled and more.
