Danity leads ladies week

Cyrus scores rare double in top 10

Once upon a time it was a rarity for an act's first album to debut at No. 1, let alone their first two. Not anymore.

Rick Ross turned the trick last week with "Trilla." Now Danity Kane matches his feat with "Welcome to the Dollhouse," becoming the first female group to have its first two discs arrive atop the Billboard 200.

The "Making the Band" alums more than doubled their closest rival, posting the second-biggest sales week of 2008. "Dollhouse" sold 2,000 more units than the 234,000 that greeted the group's self-titled debut in 2006. It's the heaviest sales week for a female group since Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way" moved 271,000 in June 2006.

Coincidentally, the first artist ever to have his first two albums bow at No. 1 is in the top 10. Snoop Dogg hit the chart in 1993 with "Doggystyle" and followed with "Tha Doggfather" three years later. For good measure, the erstwhile Snoop Doggy Dogg's third set, "Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told," bowed at No. 1 in 1998. The rapper's "Ego Trippin' " falls to No. 7 this week.

Meanwhile, Flo Rida makes an unexpectedly lukewarm bow at No. 4 with "Mail on Sunday." The Miami rapper owns the biggest-selling digital track download of all time, "Low," which has sold 3.3 million downloads and spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100. But his debut album managed only an 86,000-unit start.

And from the It Was Only a Matter of Time Department: Miley Cyrus places two albums in the top 10 this week — the first female artist to pull a double since LeAnn Rimes in March 1997. The last artist to have two albums in the top 10 at the same time was Ray Charles in November 2004.

Billboard analyst Keith Caulfield contributed to this report.
