Darren Aronofsky in running for two films
Director eyed for Fox's 'Wolverine 2,' WB police dramaDarren Aronofsky is being eyed as director for 20th Century Fox's "Wolverine" sequel, as well as Warner Bros.'s LAPD drama "Tales From the Gangster Squad," New York magazine's Vulture blog reported.
The choice of Zack Snyder by Warner Bros. to direct Christopher Nolan and David Goyer's "Superman: Man of Steel" is opening up the new opportunities, it said.
Vulture said Fox has entered into negotiations with Aronofsky to helm the sequel to last year's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The studio has considered him its top choice for a while as has its star Hugh Jackman, according to the blog.
Aronofsky was previously interested in directing Warner's new "Superman" movie, but when a decision on it was made, Warner started considering the director for "Gangster Squad."
Vulture said the "Wolverine" project likely has an edge, but Aronofsky has not made a decision yet.
