Dave Grohl, Christina Aguilera Among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Presenters
Continuing his recent trend, Dave Grohl will be living in the limelight at the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The on-a-break Foo Fighters frontman and Sound City director is among the initial group of presenters and performers announced Wednesday for the April 18 ceremony at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Grohl and his longtime Foo-mate Taylor Hawkins will induct Rush as part of the Class of ’13. Also taking the mike that night will be Don Henley, a 1998 Rock Hall inductee as part of the mega-selling Eagles, who will deliver the induction speech for L.A.’s own Randy Newman.
And two pairs of artists will pull double duty at the event, performing in place of and inducting late honorees. Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson will present Donna Summer and also deliver some of the disco era’s most iconic songs, and John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr. will induct Albert King, playing the blues guitar legend’s timeless classics.
Presenters for the other 2013 Rock Hall honorees -- Heart and Public Enemy, along with Ahmet Ertegun Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Quincy Jones and Lou Adler -- will be named later.
Also on Wednesday, the Rock Hall announced ticketing information for the induction ceremony. American Express cardholders will get the first crack at ducats, with an exclusive presale from Jan. 24-27 via Ticketmaster. Preferred-seating packages for members of the Rock Hall and members of the official Rush or Heart fan clubs will be available from Jan. 28-31. Some restrictions apply.
The public on-sale begins at 10 a.m. PT Feb. 1 at Ticketmaster or by phone at (800) 745-3000. There is a four-seat limit on all orders. Three levels of VIP packages also will be available via Ticketmaster.
