David Bowie to Release 25th Album 'Blackstar' in January

The album's first single, of the same name, will be released on Nov. 20.

David Bowie's 25th studio album is called Blackstar, and will be released Jan. 8, 2016 — the eclectic star's 69th birthday. Bowie confirmed the album's release via his website Sunday following a widely circulated report in London's The Times (which Bowie's site calls "inaccurate ... on the sound and content of the album").

Blackstar's titular first single will be released Nov. 20 and, contrary to the earlier report, is separate from Bowie's upcoming theater project Lazarus
