David Cronenberg to Be Honored at Provincetown Film Festival
The fest, which runs June 17-23, will also screen a restored version of The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night."
David Cronenberg will be honored with the Filmmaker on the Edge Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival, which runs from June 17 to 23 in Provincetown, Mass. The award will be presented by PIFF’s resident artist John Waters at a special ceremony.
“We are thrilled to be honoring David Cronenberg – a compelling and transformative filmmaker who perfectly represents filmmaking on the edge,” Mitch Levine, the newly-appointed executive director of the festival and CEO of the Provincetown Film Society, said.
The festival also will host a special drive-in double bill of Cronenberg’s Videodrome and The Fly on June 19 and will screen his Naked Lunch during the course of the festival.
The fest also will commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night by screening a new restoration of the film, directed by Richard Lester.
