David Cronenberg, Edward Holcroft Join Netflix's 'Alias Grace' Cast
Paul Gross, Kerr Logan and Rebecca Liddiard will also star opposite Sarah Gadon and Anna Paquin in the TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood's novel.
Netflix and Canadian producers Halfire Entertainment and CBC have added to the cast of Alias Grace.
Iconic film director and actor David Cronenberg, Wolf Hall star Edward Holcroft and Kerr Logan (Game of Thrones) are joining Sarah Polley's TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood's novel.
Rebecca Liddiard and Paul Gross have also joined leads Sarah Gadon and Anna Paquin as production on the six-part miniseries gets underway in Toronto and across Ontario.
Alias Grace follows Grace Marks (Gadon), a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who, along with stable hand James McDermott, was convicted of the brutal murders of their employer, Thomas Kinnear (Gross) and Nancy Montgomery (Paquin) in 1843.
Gadon has appeared in a number of Canadian movies by Cronenberg, including breakout roles in A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis. The miniseries is inspired by Marks' true story and will be written and produced by Polley (Looking for Alaska, Away From Her).
Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol) will direct. Polley, Harron and Noreen Halpern will executive produce; D.J. Carson (Spotlight) is on board as an executive producer.
