EmptyCANNES -- ITV's distribution arm ITV Global said Tuesday that it has sold the award-winning Canadian crime thriller "Durham County" to 110 countries including the U.S. (Ion Network), Australia (Showcase Channel), Germany (RTL), Italy (Fox Channels) and Latin America (NBC Universal) ahead of the launch of Season 2, which is premiering at the market. The drama, produced by Back Alley Films and Muse Entertainment, stars Hugh Dillon.
-- Endemol International has picked up third-party distribution rights to Scandinavian distributor Nordisk Film TV World's factual format "Honestly Mum and Dad" for 22 territories, including the U.K., U.S., Australia, Spain, Italy, France, the Netherlands and Belgium. The show, which aired on TV2 in Denmark, shows the effect of career-driven parents on their children.
-- Germany's Telepool sold disaster pic "The Volcano" to Spain's Telecinco; closed a 50-episode deal for series "Medicopter 117" with Cuatro; sold eight seasons of crime procedural "In the Name of the Law" to NRJ 12 in France; and made deals for the third season of cross-cultural sitcom "Turkish for Beginners" with MTV Russia and RTBF in Belgium.
-- France 3 picked up 12 episodes of German crime series "Commissario Brunetti" from Bavaria Media. The series is based on the bestselling books by Donna Leon and follows a police investigator in Venice.
-- U.K. entertainment specialist Ludorum said it has licensed all rights to its 52-episode animated pre-school show "Chuggington" to Fuji Television Network of Japan, securing distribution in 50 million TV homes. RDF Kids said it has secured deals for "Waybuloo," the 100-episode pre-school show it is airing here with ABCTV Australia anhd Treehouse TV in Canada.
-- Canadian kids producer CCI Entertainment and British puppet maker Mackinnon & Saunders have sold the CGI preschool series "Rah Rah the Noisy Lion" to CBeebies. The British broadcaster picked up 26 half-hours of the animated comedy for a projected May 2011 launch.
-- Toronto-based CCI Entertainment and MotionWork GmbH said they will partner on the new multiplatform kids property "Artzooka!" for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. The CBC green-lighted an initial 26 episodes of the live action/animation series about kids art instruction. The show will be produced in several languages for international sale.
