Several stars snubbed the manicure camera at the SAG Awards, but a network rep says there's simply not enough space on the Academy Awards red carpet.

A version of this story first appeared in the Feb. 27 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.

After snubs at the SAG Awards — Julianne Moore, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon declined to parade their digits for E!’s cameras — the net’s manicure camera was noticeably absent from the Grammys preshow carpet, replaced by the clutch cam. But the manicam will return one day — just not to the Oscars “because of space constraints,” says E! senior vp media relations Sarah Goldstein. “We won’t have the clutch cam either, per usual.”

The camera has come up as a feminist issue, as raised by The New York Times, in a year where women's issues have been paramount in Hollywood.
