Deauville to focus on U.S. TV series

Jury President Emmanuelle Beart to name best titles Sept. 11

PARIS -- The Deauville American Film Festival will be changing channels this year with a new initiative focusing on U.S. TV series called "Deauville: Season 1," organizers said Monday.

The festival will host master classes and meetings between big names in the stateside smallscreen world during its opening weekend on Sept. 4 and 5 and will screen episodes of popular series and premieres of episodes not yet seen in France. Organizers are also planning networking events between French and American screenwriters in order to facilitate trans-Atlantic teamwork.

The Deauville American Film Festival's official feature film competition will kick off on Sunday, Sept. 5 and will wrap with the traditional awards ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 11, when this year's Jury President Emmanuelle Beart and her not yet announced team will name their picks for best American titles of the year.

On Sunday, Sept. 12, the Festival will give public filmgoers the opportunity to see all of the films presented during the course of the festival.
