Sahar Moridani has been promoted to associate executive director of the Directors Guild of America, it was announced on Tuesday by DGA national executive director Jay D. Roth.

Moridani, who joined the DGA in 2007 as part of its communications department, was promoted in 2012 to assistant executive director of that department before taking a newly created position earlier this year working with associate national executive director David Korduner.  In her new position, Moridani will have direct executive oversight over the Reports Compliance Department and its contract administration and enforcement functions, and will assist Korduner with human resources, communications and overseeing the other departments that report to him.

“As the DGA continues to grow, Sahar is a welcome addition to our senior executive team, where she has moved to the administration side of our operations with an emphasis on realizing department synergies and improving efficiency and productivity,” Roth said. “Her communications expertise will be put to good use as she focuses on improving internal and external communications, and coordination among the departments she is involved in overseeing.”

Added Korduner, “Sahar is uniquely positioned for this newly created role, which taps into her communications, managerial and leadership skill sets; service acumen; and institutional knowledge.”

Before joining the DGA, Moridani was the press deputy for the mayor of Los Angeles and director of communications for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. She also worked in Washington, D.C., serving as special assistant to the U.S. State Department spokesman, managing the traveling press corps and coordinating international media events for the secretary of state.
