Digest: Uni HV promotes Emrey
EmptyUniversal Studios Home Entertainment has promoted Tom Emrey to executive vp and COO. Emrey, who was CFO, continues to report to division president Craig Kornblau. The move is part of Uni's ongoing restructuring following the announcement last month that the studio's global digital activities would move under Kornblau.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has promoted Matt Brown to executive vp international, reporting to president David Bishop. Brown was executive vp Europe. Simon McDowell has been appointed senior vp and GM, Europe, for the division. He spent the past 11 years in senior management positions with Coca-Cola. McDowell reports to Brown.
VDI adds vid label
Global independent VDI Entertainment has formed a U.S. video label, MediaLink Entertainment. The label has entered into a subdistribution pact with Koch Entertainment and added industry veteran Don Spielvogel as vp sales. Initial releases include "Kids in the Hall: The Pilot Episode -- Special Headcrusher Edition" and "Diana: An Intimate Portrait." MediaLink will focus on niche category and special-interest programming, with an emphasis on "brand development and the strategic marketing of products for both mainstream and nontraditional retail customers," company president Chris Lynch said.
