Digital duo promoted at MTVN
EmptyMTV Networks has upped Erik Flannigan to executive vp digital media, the company said Thursday.
Additionally, MTVN announced the promotion of Jon Slusser to senior vp at Spike Digital and Video Games.
In his expanded role, Flannigan will oversee the digital programming initiatives for Comedy Central, Spike TV and TV Land as well as Web sites AtomFilms, AtomUploads, GameTrailers.com and Xfire along with all of MTVN Entertainment's digital businesses.
Flannigan was senior vp digital media Comedy Central and Spike TV, a position he filled in 2006. He will remain based at the New York offices of Comedy Central and Spike TV.
"Erik, in his short tenure here at MTVN's Entertainment Group, has already had a major impact on our business," MTVN Entertainment Group president Doug Herzog said. "His new responsibilities reflect my confidence that his sophisticated understanding of digital media trends and his vision of how all of our brands can best capitalize on the evolving opportunities means we have exactly the right man in this crucial role."
Slusser will be responsible for managing the upcoming merger of MTVN's online video site iFilm and Spike TV into Spike.com and leading the company's video game strategy, which includes the management of PC-gaming application Xfire and GameTrailers.com.
Slusser, who was vp MTVN and CEO of GameTrailers, will report to Flannigan.
"Now we are able to leverage Jon's expertise in the Entertainment Group's wider, multiplatform digital world," Flannigan said. "He'll play a key role in creating the Web's premiere destinations for men."
Slusser joined MTVN when the company acquired GameTrailers in 2005. Along with business partners, he launched the video game site in 2003.
Slusser is based at MTV's Santa Monica office.
