Dina Lohan Kicks Off Media Blitz About Daughter Lindsay

She opens up in two separate TV interviews about the actress' “lifelong struggle with addiction.”

Dina Lohan kicked off a media blitz Friday, opening up in two interviews about troubled daughter Lindsay.

First up: George Stephanopoulos of ABC’s Good Morning America.

“Betty Ford was life changing for all of us,” she told him of her daughter’s most recent stint in rehab. “I mean, I’ve put her in a couple of rehabs over the years, and, you know, it’s not about the rehab, it’s about where she is personally in her sobriety and her growth. She’s matured considerably.”

The interview caught Lindsay’s on-and-off girlfriend Samantha Ronson off-guard. With Lindsay sleeping next to her, Ronson Tweeted: “Watching grey’s anatomy-my fav show- @lindsaylohan sleeping next 2 me- should i wake her up to let her know her mom is going on GMA? #why ?”

Dina is set to pop up again on ABC’s 20/20 to chat with Chris Cuomo. In the interview (airing Friday night), she says her daughter is facing “a lifelong struggle with addiction,” but she believes Lindsay no longer drinks.

“I think she’s gonna be OK,” she says. “She’s a young girl struggling. You know, she’s not perfect. … She’s learning as she goes, but she’s learning under a microscope, so I can’t even imagine how that is.”

She also says Lindsay’s problems began in 2004 after she moved from NYC to Los Angeles. “I knew early on, I just didn’t tell anyone about it. It was a personal situation,” she admitted of her daughter’s problems with drugs. “I saw it visually, what was happening. You know, I’m around my children. I was around Lindsay a lot, and I saw what was happening. I grabbed the bull by the horns and tried to get her help immediately.

“I never thought it would be this — the media would be so crazy,” she added. “I really never thought it would get to this level. It’s been really hard on my family, harder than anything.”

Lindsay is currently out on bail on a felony grand theft charge and is due back in court Feb. 23.
