Dior Makeup's Peter Philips shares his vision for the ultra-femme models.

The Christian Dior Haute Couture 2015-16 collection may have featured some strong silhouettes and bold colors, but the makeup on the models was as delicate and feminine as could be. The ultra-natural look was the creation of Dior Makeup creative and image director Peter Philips, who took a minimalist approach.

"The makeup reveals a very pure aesthetic," he says of the fresh-faced look he designed to pair with Raf Simons’ creations, which were shown at Paris’ Musée Rodin to an audience that included stars such as Lupita Nyong'o and Emily Blunt. Appropriately enough, "Her face looks like something out of a Flemish painting, and she looks like a Botticellian beauty, version 2.0," continues Philips.

Top of mind: the models’ complexions. The makeup maestro kept their skin pale and flawless, with a "hint of wet look that subtly evokes powerful emotions." This was accomplished with a combination of Diorskin Star Foundation ($50) and Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen ($38).

He also applied a ring of translucent peachy coral shadow on the models' eyelids and used Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Collagen Active Lip-Gloss in Pink #001 ($33) on their lips for a transparent shine. Of his look, Philips says, "It suits the spectacular volume of the unconventional silhouettes, presenting an ethereal very contemporary heroine. This young woman is angelically beautiful, yet still evocative, and subtly sensual."
