Discovery presents three new docs
Human evolution, the wonders of outer space and dinosaursMore MIPCOM news
CANNES -- Human evolution, the wonders of outer space and dinosaurs are among the themes Discovery Communications is hoping to sell to international broadcasters at this year's MIPCOM market.
The world's leading nonfiction media company announced the launch of three new blue chip documentaries on Monday: "Discovering Ardi," "Stephen Hawking's Universe" and "Last Days of the Dinosaurs."
"Ardi" focuses on the scientific study of a 4.4 million year-old female skeleton that opened a new chapter on human evolution. "Hawking's Universe" (working title) is a three-part documentary series combining CGI, live action, archive and special effects that follows the famous scientist as he explores the cosmos. The "Dinosaurs" series will feature tsunamis, meteor showers, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions leading up to the extinction of the ancient reptiles.
Discovery is looking for third-party broadcasters to air the educational programs.
