Discovery taps Carr
EmptyDiscovery Communications has named Tom Carr senior vp of marketing for Planet Green, the company's 24-hour eco-lifestyle channel that will launch in June.
Carr will report to Eileen O'Neill, president and general manager of Planet Green. In his new role, Carr is responsible for providing creative brand leadership and strategy across all content platforms for Planet Green, including the network's creative execution and positioning, consumer and trade marketing, partnerships, promotions and efforts to inspire the new "green" conversation in the marketplace, Discovery said.
Most recently Carr served as consulting chief marketing officer and a director at Spanx Inc., where he oversaw all functional areas of marketing ranging from branding to corporate communications to retail and direct-to-consumer promotions.
Prior to Spanx, Carr was the senior vp of marketing for TNT, where he oversaw the marketing and promotion of the network's dramatic entertainment programming. He led the network and TNT.tv in the development and launch of several multiplatform campaigns, including "The Closer." Carr's professional experience also includes advertising roles with Nike and The Coca-Cola Co.
