Dish, Epix Renew Carriage Deal, Include Streaming Service Sling TV
Dish's new Sling TV online video service will start offering Epix channels, expanding its movie offerings.
Pay TV giant Dish Network and premium TV service Epix said Monday they have reached a multiyear carriage deal renewal.
Dish's recently launched Sling TV streaming video service also will start offering Epix channels to its users. The service said the deal grants it live and VOD multistream rights.
Financial terms weren't disclosed. Epix is a joint venture of Viacom and its Paramount Pictures unit, Lionsgate and MGM.
In addition to its four channels, Epix, Epix 2, Epix 3 and Epix Drive-In, Dish customers who subscribe to Epix will have access to more than 2,000 VOD titles on DishAnywhere.com, Epix.com and via the Dish Anywhere and Epix apps, the partners said.
This renewal will give Dish customers with an Epix subscription access to such new releases as Transformers: Age of Extinction, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Interstellar, Selma and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
"Dish is an outstanding partner and we are excited to continue our successful relationship by working together to further build our businesses by providing Epix's movies, original documentaries and events to Dish customers across the nation and on multiple platforms," said Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of Epix.
"Dish and Epix share a commitment to delivering the best TV and movies in innovative ways, and we look forward to building on this agreement to provide an even better entertainment experience," added Tom Gorke, Viacom Media Networks executive vp content distribution.
"Dish is pleased to continue providing to our customers the high-quality movies and special events from Epix," said Warren Schlichting, Dish senior vp programming. "Combined with our industry-leading technology, Dish customers continue to enjoy the best viewing experience of thousands of movies from Epix, live or on-demand."
Said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV: "Our customers crave the newest movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Transformers: Age of Extinction, but they also have a growing appetite for the classics and Epix delivers both. Sling TV will feature Epix’s linear channels and movies on-demand in an add-on package that is accessible and affordable."
