Disney, Amazon Reportedly Close to Ending Dispute
The e-commerce giant had stopped taking preorders for 'Maleficent' and other DVDs
Disney and Amazon are close to settling a dispute that led the e-commerce company to stop taking preorders for Disney DVDs, the Wall Street Journal reported.
A check of upcoming Disney DVD titles on Amazon.com, such as Maleficent and Guardians of the Galaxy, confirmed that they were available for preorders on the site again.
The dispute apparently involved pricing, promotion and related issues. The Journal said one such issue was the question of who must make up the difference when Amazon loses money to match competitors' prices.
The Journal said details on talks and possible agreements between the two companies weren’t available, and it wasn't clear if they were working on a new long-term deal.
News of the dispute emerged this summer when Amazon wouldn't accept DVD and Blu-ray preorders for Disney films, while Barnes & Noble and Walmart continued to offer them. Amazon told users that they would get a notification when the titles become available.
