Disney Promotes 'Frankenweenie' in 'Where’s My Water? Free' Mobile Game
“10 Days of Frankenweenie” level pack launched today with special black and white levels, a Sparky cameo and new theme music inspired by the film.
While Tim Burton fans won’t be getting a dedicated Frankeweenie video game, Disney is offering a cross-promotional interactive experience. With more than 100 million downloads on Apple iOS, Google Android and Play and the Amazon Appstore across 90 countries since September 2011, Disney’s Where’s My Water? franchise is one of the top mobile games in the world. Frankenweenie will be promoted in-game in the mobile version, Where’s My Water? Free, beginning today as part of the “10 Days of Frankenweenie” marketing blitz.
The new content is inspired by Burton’s 3D stop-motion animated film, which features the voice acting of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder. Gamers will be able to download a free level pack featuring new black and white levels that combine the film’s retro look and feel with the gameplay of Where’s My Water?
There’s also a new movie-themed comic panel featuring Sparky, the beloved dog from the film, in addition to the Frankenweenie-themed locked level icons and collectibles. The game also introduces a new soundtrack inspired by the film, featuring a child choir, all new music mixes for the levels and spooky sound effects.
While this is the first movie tie-in for the game franchise, Disney has been expanding this mobile property. In May, Disney announced the franchise’s first line of merchandise, and later this year Swampy will make his debut in a 12-episode animated web series called, Disney Where's My Water Presents: Swampy's Underground Adventures.
In June 2012, Apple recognized the game with the Apple Design Award, awarded for innovation and design excellence in developer products.
