Disney Grabs New Superhero Animated Series From 'Peppa Pig' Producer

Entertainment One
'PJ Masks'

Disney Channel and Disney Junior in the U.S. will debut 'PJ Masks' from co-producer Entertainment One.

Disney Channel has picked up Entertainment One's preschool superhero cartoon series PJ Masks for a worldwide broadcast debut.

The CGI animated series will bow simultaneously on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in the U.S. on Sept. 18, to be followed in France on France 5 later this year. PJ Masks, produced by French animation studio TeamTO for eOne and Frog Box, will then roll out on Disney Junior channels worldwide in 2016.

The preschooler is based on French author Romuald Racioppo’s picture book series Les Pyjamasques, which was launched in France in 2008. eOne found earlier success with the UK-originated pre-school series Peppa Pig, which airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. alongside a major North American licensing and merchandise push for the kids TV property.

PJ Masks follows three young friends who at night become superhero alter egos Catboy, Owlette and Gekko to solve mysteries and learn life lessons. eOne handles global distribution and licensing for the animated series.
