Disney's Maker Studios Content Coming to U.K. Pay TV Operator TalkTalk

The company becomes the first pay TV platform in Britain to provide its original series and content from its creator network.

Disney U.K. and Ireland on Monday unveiled an agreement with pay TV operator TalkTalk that will see the latter offer a collection of shortform content from Disney's Maker Studios on its TalkTalk TV service.

TalkTalk becomes the first pay TV platform in Britain to provide both Maker Studios original series and content from its creator network. It will offer all of that content on demand.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Tom Clark, vp digital distribution at Disney EMEA, said: “Maker Studios’ content is compelling, fresh and innovative and resonates strongly with younger audiences. TalkTalk, as our first U.K. pay TV client for Maker Studios, will give customers the ability to enjoy world-class shortform content whenever and wherever they want.”

Shameless Maya, How Ridiculous, Noodlerella, DaymDrops, Camila Coelho and others are among the global and local U.K. creators featured on the platform, which is now home to over 250 shortform videos across gaming, lifestyle, family and entertainment. Content from the Maker Studios network will be refreshed on a monthly basis.

Original series available now include Jobsworth, starring Joe Weller; Pugatory, starring CutiePieMarzia; Crash Pad, starring Bart Baker; and Party Fun Times with Taryn Southern.

Shows exclusive to TalkTalk in the U.K. include Cover Versions, in which YouTube creators create one-minute literary stories or “covers” based solely on the title and cover of a book they have never seen or heard of; In A Galaxy that takes a look inside the lives of 22 Star Wars super fans; Learn It or Burn It about a record producer who also happens to be a pyromaniac; and Prank School with Rahat.

TalkTalk TV customers can access Maker Studios content through TalkTalk’s kids and entertainment "boosts," or add-on packages, which can be added a month at a time.

Said Aleks Habdank, managing director, TalkTalk TV: "We’re delighted that TalkTalk TV homes will be the first in the U.K. to enjoy Maker Studio content. As many of our customers are families, having access to top online entertainment in a safe environment, free from adverts, is hugely appealing."
