Misty Copeland is starring in Lasse Hallstrom's live-action film, which was previewed at D23.

Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will be gifted to audiences next year.

The live-action remake will hit theaters on Nov. 2, 2018, the studio announced during its D23 Expo. The holiday film takes over the previously announced release date of the live-action Mulan remake. It will open opposite Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix and an unnamed Paramount film.

Directed by Lasse Hallstrom from a script by Ashleigh Powell, the new version of the classic ballet is based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffmann. The Christmastime-set story centers on a young girl named Clara whose favorite toy, a nutcracker, comes alive and takes her away to a magical kingdom inhabited by dolls. The tale inspired the famous ballet that featured one of Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s most iconic compositions.

Interstellar actress Mackenzie Foy stars as Clara, while Misty Copeland plays the lead ballerina. Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and Matthew Macfadyen are also among the cast.

At D23, Disney previewed the holiday film with visually dazzling clips that showed off the cinematography of director of photography Linus Sandgren (Oscar winner for La La Land) and production design by two-time Oscar-nominated Guy Hendrix Dyas. The segment also previewed some of the dance moves, with a performance by Lil Buck.
