Sonny Moore, the superstar DJ better known as Skrillex, is taking a quick break from concocting rave bangers to contribute new music to Harmony Korine's upcoming film, Spring Breakers.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Moonrise Kingdom music supervisor Randall Poster revealed that Skrillex will be composing original music for the upcoming flick, which stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine. Skrillex confirmed the news on Twitter, posting, "it's more or less traditional scoring...dont expect dance floor bangers!"
Poster, who is serving as the musical supervisor for the 2013 movie, described his visceral reaction and his deep appreciation to the EDM king when he attended a Skrillex show in New York.
"I'm accustomed to being the oldest person at a gig, but when I went to see Skrillex at Roseland this year, it was dramatic," said Poster. "There were a lot of kids that looked like they were 15 years old. But I loved it. I truly loved it. I think Skrillex is just brilliant. When I walked into that club, I felt like I swallowed the music - it was like 'Alien,' like it went into me."

Skrillex's upcoming film work is just the latest instance of an electronic star jumping into the world of cinema: Daft Punk handled the entire soundtrack for Tron: Legacy, while French electronic duo Air composed the score for Sofia Coppola's 1999 film debut, The Virgin Suicides. Next up for the Skrill Man is a quick tour alongside Diplo, Pretty Lights, Grimes and others, which kicks off July 13 in Toronto.
