Sony, which partnered with The Weinstein Co. on the film, isn't saying what those changes were.

"There is tremendous excitement, anticipation and awareness for the film and we thank the local authorities for quickly resolving this issue," the studio said in a statement.

Django -- the first Quentin Tarantino film ever allowed into China -- was yanked from theaters just minutes after it began rolling out on April 11 (excluding select midnight runs the evening before). It had been cleared by censors after the filmmakers cut about a minute from the film and muted the color of blood in its many violent sequences.

It's still not clear why Chinese authorities changed their mind and pulled Django.

China's State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT) pre-screens and censors all films that are shown in the country's cinemas.
