Doha Film Institute Names Permanent CEO
Fatma Al Remaihi had been acting CEO since August
The Doha Film Institute, Qatar's government-funded cultural institution, has appointed Fatma Al Remaihi as its CEO. She will serve alongside her current roles as director of the organization's two festivals, the Ajyal Youth Film Festival and Qumra.
Al Remaihi, who joined the institute in 2009, has been in place as acting CEO since August, when the DFI's previous head, Abdulaziz Al-Khater, stepped down after less then two years in the position.
The second edition of the annual Ajyal festival wrapped in the Qatari capital earlier this month with the regional premiere of the Salma Hayek-produced animation Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet. The inaugural Qumra festival, focusing on first- and second-time filmmakers, is due to take place in March 2015.
