The "Prison Break" star is joining Allan Ungar's action thriller, which has also added Vinnie Jones and Stephen Lang to its cast.
TORONTO – Prison Break's Dominic Purcell is replacing Cuba Gooding Jr. in the lead role for the action thriller Gridlocked, from Cody Hackman's Hackybox Pictures.
The Canadian film, to be directed by Allan Ungar, will now see Purcell play a former SWAT leader who is being shadowed by an arrogant movie star, being played by Hackman.
Together, they must organize the survivors of an attack on a training facility and fight back against a team of mercenaries.
Gooding Jr. was to have played the action character, but dropped out for unknown reasons.
Vinnie Jones and Stephen Lang have also joined Gridlocked, which begins shooting on July 7 in Toronto and London, Ontario.
Hackybox is financing and producing the feature, which is based on a script by Ungar and Rob Robol.
Bruno Marino, Geoff Hart and Jenna Mattison are producing.
Hackybox Pictures recently completed the mixed martial arts thriller Tapped, which stars Michael Biehn and Anderson Silva.
The film was released by Lionsgate and VVS Films.
