THR's Studio Exec Roundtable: Donna Langley Says Actress "Salaries are Indicative of the Equality Across the Board"

Hollywood's biggest studio executives discuss the delicate yet noteworthy topic of the gender wage gap, stemming from Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence's recent essay regarding her 'American Hustle' salary.

Answers were given with tact and restraint as Hollywood's most powerful studio executives discussed the issue of the gender wage gap. "As consumer tastes shift around the globe," said Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley, "and as we do see are more roles for women — the more there are, the more women who can participate, I think the salaries will go up."

Some took a more definitive stance, such as the chairman of Walt Disney Studios, Alan Horn, who said "equality for women in our industry should be a priority for us all, as it should be for the rest of American business."

The Hollywood Reporter's Roundtable series continues through the awards season.

Tune in for this season of Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter beginning Sunday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. ET on Sundance TV.
