'Doodlebops' spinoff joins CBS lineup
Cookie Jar sells show for Saturday morning blockTORONTO -- Cookie Jar Entertainment has sold the Canadian cartoon spinoff series "Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show" to CBS for its Saturday morning lineup.
The co-production between Cookie Jar, Argentina's Illusions Studios and Germany's OPTIX Entertainment will be slotted into the CBS kids' programming block, Cookie Jar TV, beginning April 3.
CBS picked up 26 half-hours of the Canadian animated series, while another Cookie Jar series, "Strawberry Shortcake," is to rejoin its Saturday morning lineup, the Toronto-based producer said.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. earlier picked up the "Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show," which features the animated trio of Deedee, Rooney and Moe Doodle on music-driven adventures, after drawing big numbers with "The Doodlebops" live-action series (HR, Feb. 18).
Toronto-based Cookie Jar is selling the animated series worldwide.
