Douglas Finberg takes Marvel post

Exec to oversee 'Thor,' 'Iron Man 2' marketing campaigns

Douglas Finberg has been named executive vp international marketing at Marvel Studios.

The move is a natural one for Finberg, who previously was senior vp international marketing at Paramount Pictures. Paramount released last year's Marvel hit "Iron Man" and the two companies signed a five-picture deal that sees Paramount distributing Marvel movies domestically and internationally. (Telemunchen distributed "Iron Man 2" in Germany and Austria, however.)

Finberg will now focus on Marvel's slate of upcoming movies, developing and overseeing the worldwide marketing campaigns for "Iron Man 2, "Thor," "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers." He is expected to work closely with the Paramount marketing and publicity teams on the campaigns in all their forms. Finberg will also work on home entertainment releases.

At Paramount, Finberg's focus included the campaigns for DreamWorks Animation films such as "Shrek the Third," "Kung Fu Panda" and "Monsters vs. Aliens" as well working on movies ranging from "Mission: Impossible 3" and "Transformers" to "Eagle Eye" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

Before Paramount, Finberg helped launch DreamWorks' international theatrical division.
