The daytime talk show host has extended his pact with CBS Television Distribution, taking his series though at least its 18th season.

Daytime's top syndicated talk show isn't going anywhere. Dr. Phil McGraw, the star and executive producer of Dr. Phil, has extended his deal with CBS Television Distribution through 2020.

“All of us in the Dr. Phil family are extremely excited to extend the show through 2020,” said McGraw. “Extending this dynamic partnership with CBS affords us a chance to continue our important work with individuals and families across America and around the world. Personally, I am so proud to continue with the best team in television. Most of my television family, from Carla Pennington the executive producer to the same seven cameramen I had when we started over 13 years ago, are still here making a difference everyday.”

This deal means that Dr. Phil, currently in its 14th season, could go on for at least another four seasons. Considering its ratings stamina, that comes as little surprise. With an average 4.4 million viewers, Dr. Phil has been the highest-rated daytime talker since The Oprah Winfrey Show went off the air.

“Dr. Phil is the leading voice in daytime television and he’s made his show an important platform to discuss issues our viewers are struggling with every day. He truly is one of a kind,” added CBS Global Distribution Group president and CEO Armando Nunez. “We’re so thrilled to have Phil as part of the CBS family and look forward to continuing our long, productive and extremely successful relationship with him.”

McGraw, who first rose to prominence thanks to his appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, also is an executive producer on a spinoff of sorts, The Doctors.
